Summary: Tom's review of Photoshop Elements 5.0
Comment: I love this new software. It truly is user-friendly. I had a very difficult time with the offshore Adobe customer service folks... I was on the phone with them for over an hour and they could not determine how I could access the free tutorials that are included in my package. Thankfully, a couple of days later, an email from Adobe, acknowledging my registration, included links to the tutorials. I have navigated through most of them and they are really great. The instructor sounds like an old friend looking over your shoulder. I have organized my photos, sent some along to friends and family in emails, etc. It is GREAT!! Have not had the time to get into the Premiere Elements section.

Summary: Confusion
Comment: This is a great product I know it is- I just dont know how to use it- and there is no manual for help- and not true Photoshop- so all the video you see showing how they transform pictures takes lots of knowledge and practice-

Summary: It was perfect for what it is used for
Comment: I have photoshop CS3 and now I have Lightroom as well, both for work. I like both products in their own ways but have to admit that Photoshop Elements can still do things that Photoshop cannot, plus it can do a lot of things easier than photoshop can. It has all the tools I regularly use and does them all well enough, there are some things I would like to see made easier but all in all it is well worth the money.

Premiere Elements on the other hand is actually better IMHO than its namesake. Sure the full blown version has all sorts of other things it can do, but I would never ever ever use them, ever. Plus the elements version costs 10% of the full version, give or take.

I like photoshop CS3 for extra control and extra tools, but still use Elements as a first line tool. I think premiere is more than enough to edit my countless home movies in more than enough ways to make me happy.

The one thing I would say is that Premiere Elements is possibly the slowest video editing tool I have ever used, and it is not easily able to do simple tasks with small video clips, but there are so many other tools out there that are free or dirt cheap that can do those other things that I would never use Premiere Elements for those tasks anyhow.

Summary: Great software if...
Comment: This software is the best you'll find for the money ( premiere ).
It's very manuel unlike pinnacle or cyberlink software. You can have mulitiple video and audio tracks and have many effects to mess with and even make it to your wants exactly. Only problem is the book is almost useless in this box. I bought the HollyWood FX for Adboe premiere elements 3 book and it's the right book for explaining what all the effects do and how to master them. Premiere elements 3 is ram intensive
so I suggest upping your ram to the max. 2 gb is good enough.

Photoshop is sort of a rip off, always has been. A bit complicated at first, but not so much later. Pretty good for the money. You really do save $40.

Summary: User Friendly
Comment: Lots of nice features. Very user friendly. But, people, it won't make a bad photo into a great shot. (hahahaha.)
