Summary: Required for many Powershot A series to use accessory lenses.
Comment: I use it on my A720is to attach the telephoto and closeup auxiliary lenses. It works as advertized, but as others have said, it blocks most of the flash and most of the optical viewfinder. So, I just don't use the flash and viewfinder when it is attached! This does cause some inconvenience if I want to use the viewfinder in bright sun when the viewing screen is washed out. As far as the flash goes, I don't really see any need for flash when the auxiliary lenses are being used. When I do need the flash, my subject can be within the effective flash distance and be well framed in the normal camera zoom lens, without this adaptor attached. I do wish the plastic tabs on the back of this adaptor that mount it to the camera were a little better designed, they don't snug down tightly so the adaptor has just a bit of play or looseness which can be felt as wobble when it has the weight of an auxiliary lens attached. Since it is not a tight fit, any lens attached to the front of it will pull it downward just a bit so the lens will be very slightly out of alignment with the axis of the main lens of the camera. I can't see any misalignment effect in my photos unless it is at night and there is a bright light in the photo, then the "halo" that is sometimes visible around the light is slightly off-center. If it was a tight fit to the camera, I would give this 4 stars.

Summary: Works Just as it Should
Comment: What can you say about this adaptor? It's a circular hunk of plastic that allows you to add filters to your point-and-shoot camera. Since most shots in daylight benefit from a polarizer, this gives you the option of using one. It seems sturdy enough, installs easily and accepts any 58mm filter. As mentioned in other reviews, it will interfere somewhat with your flash, but you usually won't need a filter when you're using flash. All-in-all, a useful accessory for your A710IS camera.

Comment: This adapter is on the way of the camera's flash, so, this adapter is useless to me.

Summary: Handy
Comment: I have a Canon A710IS. I bought this adaptor to use with the 1.75x teleconverter and the 250D closeup lens. After I received it I was happy to realize that I have some 58 mm filters lying around and these can be used on this adapter (without vignetting). So this adapter can really open up some new possibilities. (Note: the closeup lens also has a thread to mount filters, but the teleconverter does not.)
A nice feature is that it is very easy to pop the adapter on/off the camera ("quick release"). Unfortunately, no case is provided with this adapter. My suggestion/idea is to buy one adapter per converter lens and keep it threaded permanently to that lens. This would be the most convenient way to use it in the field. The bag that comes with the teleconverter is big enough for this, but for the closeup lens, only a small filter box is provided so you'll need to buy a larger container if the adapter is kept threaded onto it.
The main disadvantage of this adapter is that it wil cause shadowing in flash close-ups (see my review of the 250D).

Summary: Does its Job
Comment: Allows me to use the couple hundred bucks worth of filters I bought for my S3 on my 710IS as well. Won't be used a lot as the camera is primarily for scuba diving in the the Canon UW housing
