Summary: Excellent Printer
Comment: We formerly used Epson Stylus color inkjet printers in our graphic design offices for all computers and liked the speed, relative low cost cartridges and quality. However, after 4 years, they'd run their course and started to have problems. Researched printers and replaced all of ours (4) with the Canon 6700d. We do reports as well as artwork output and are very pleased with this product. Purchase prices on the printer have risen since this model has been discontinued (and apparently in demand), so suggest shopping around a little - used to be abundantly available for around $140 new.

Summary: Prints wonderful pictures!
Comment: I bought this to replace a previous PIXMA model. This one prints faster and looks better than the previous one and supports the newer inks from Canon that are supposed to last 100 years. The only issue I've had with it is it saying that I have two Photo Cyan cartridges in it, when I've only put the cartridges in that came with it. It doesn't always say this, just occasionally. And sometimes it will complain that it doesn't recognize the Photo Cyan cartridge. I'm still using the ink cartridges that came with the printer, so I'm hoping that when I go to buy new ones this will take care of the problem. I've had similar issues before with other printers and it just turned out to be something weird with one cartridge and the new ones worked flawlessly. But, it's still a great printer! I wouldn't buy anything other than Canon printers after the last two PIXMAs I've owned!

Summary: Great photo printer
Comment: I purchased this ink jet printer because my laser printer makes poor quality photo images. After owning both HP and Lexmark "photo" printers, this one beats them all for image quality. The colors are true and free of the typical streaks from many printers. The only downside is that it uses 6 individual ink cartridges that are low capacity and pricey. You can, however, just replace the individual cartridges as they run out of ink. I tried non-Canon, less expensive cartridges and they do NOT work. A big PLUS is that it has two paper feeds, so you can load both regular and photo paper and decide which to use when setting up the print properties. You can save a lot of ink and photo paper by prining drafts on plain paper first, without having to switch paper manually.I recommend this printer if you want extremely high quality photo prints at a bit higher cost per print, but from a reasonably priced printer.

Summary: Good (while it lasted) - great customer service
Comment: My printer lasted approximately six months before succumbing to "error 5100" messages. The error prevented the printer from completing print jobs and Google research suggested "error 5100" is a catchall for a variety of issues. I contacted Canon and a simple diagnostic suggested I had an encoder problem (something to do with the printer's ribbon). Canon's telephone representative told me I was the first person he spoke with who had this problem with this model. Unfortunately, there was no way for me to fix the printer myself, but since Canon has a one-year warrantee, they allowed me to either bring the printer to a store for repairs (Canon would pay the bill) or receive a refurbished printer via UPS. The refurbished option was a lot more convenient and "refurbished" is a broad term...technically, a product returned to Canon because the exterior box is damaged is "refurbished." Just three business days later, the refurbished printer arrived and it works well (and shows absolutely no signs of previous use or damage...I have a feeling it is overstock). Canon even gave me 6 BRAND NEW ink cartridges (a ~$70 value), a new power cable and all the CDs and documentation. Additionally, they gave me a prepaid UPS sticker so all I needed to do was stick my damaged printer in their box and bring it to the UPS store. So although I'm disappointed the printer broke after 6 months of light to moderate use, I'm very impressed with Canon's customer service. As for the printer...the photos I print always look pretty good and match what is on the computer monitor. Just be sure to always check your printer settings before printing...if you're printing on glossy photo paper or matte paper or want better quality/worse quality, you need to enter this information in the print dialog window before confirming the print job.

Summary: Great Photo Printer
Comment: I wanted a dedicated inkjet photo printer to print photos taken with my Canon Rebel XTI. After reading many favorable reviews, I settled on the Canon PIXMA iP6700D photo printer. WOW! Inkjet printers have come a long way in terms of print quality. This printer produces prints equal in quality to a professional photo lab. I'm very pleased with my purchase and strongly recommend this printer to everyone from serious photographer to weekend snapper. Buy it.
