Summary: Great camera!!!
Comment: I love this camera for many reasons...but, the two best features are the batteries and view screen...I like the fact that it uses batteries (4 AA), which can be purchased anywhere in the world...I use rechargeables most of the time, but no special batteries here...also, love the flip out screen, which can protect the screen or flip out to any angle for shooting...I use mine all the time and it is just as good or better than some of the more expensive cameras on the market.

Summary: lost in the mail
Comment: I can't review this item as of yet because after checking free shipping, my purchase was sent into "no man's land!" In other words, you'll have to wait a long time to get your stuff!! I was surprised to find that Amazon offers free shipping, but fails to tell you your shipping time may be lengthened. So, once I receive my product, I'll be glad to review it. I do think waiting longer than 7 days is a bit ridiculous and my projected 10 to 12 days borderline insane!!!

Comment: This camera is everything I want a camera to be. It is easy to use, with additional advanced options for moderate to experienced users. I love the LCD screen with so many position options. Picture angles have become more flexible with the LCD swivel feature. I read in other reviews that some have had problems with the batteries falling out when they go to remove the memory card. I don't see how that could happen unless they are trying to take the card out without turning the camera over. I have not had any problems with removing the card or the batteries falling out of the camera in the process.

Comment: I bought this camera because a much more talented friend who has the same one recommended it to me. I am thrilled. I've received multiple compliments from the people with whom I've shared the photos we've taken with this camera...and believe me, it's not because of my skill! A great decision to buy. Strongly suggest adding a 1GB memory card so you can be sure to have plenty of room for lots of photos.

Comment: I LOVE this camera. It's very portable, and takes wonderful photos. I have even had some of the images from this camera published in magazines! I use a Canon SLR for professional photography, and this little portable Canon digital is a great camera for sight-seeing and for those times I don't want to lug around the larger camera body and lens. The A640 is extremely versatile...and the many functions are easy to use. 8 x 10 prints and 2-page photo spreads in magazines have been sharp and crisp. An added bonus is the large, swivel view finder.
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this little gem. Great job on this one, Canon!!
