Summary: Ink cartridge problem?
Comment: This printer is good for what it is however it runs out of ink like no other printer I've ever had. There is no way to print unless all the cartridges are filled with ink - which means that if you run out of cyan and want to print in black ink only, it cannot be done until you replace the cyan cartridge. It's ridiculous. It came as a special with our mac and I really regret it. The cartridges are unbelievably expensive. Do not get this printer.

Summary: Don't buy this printer.
Comment: This printer SUCKS. Any printer that needs all 4 color cartridges in order to print all the time is re-god-damn-diculous!!! There is no way around this and the printer uses a little bit of all colors all the time so you are never printing only B&W!! And the sweetest plum is that I have yet to find a single Cyan cartridge in store, so one must buy all three non-black cartridges every time you need to replace one color. DO NOT BUY an Epson printer...EVER!!!

Summary: Cheap for a reason: REAL rip-off with ink
Comment: I think there are 2 good reasons why you should not buy this printer:
* Need color cartridges to print B/W
* Printing B/W consumes color cartridges
When I bought it I wanted to save the color cartridges because I had to print only B/W. I could NOT. Called the customer care and they said that that the color cartridges has to be inside. Fine, I put them in. But why?
Then when I run out of cyan ink, I had to buy this cartridge. However the color levels kept going down even if I was not printing in color.
The customer care at (562) 276-4382 told me that the printer uses color for B/W printing in order to deliver optimal printing quality.
COME ON, I have had a few monochromatic printers that were printing B/W better than this one.
If the customer care assertion was true, that means that Epson printing technology is inferior to other printer manufactures that can produce excellent B/W inkjet printers that deliver excellent results without using color cartridges.
I really think that Epson is in the business of selling cartridges not printers.

It looks like the chip in the cartridges "estimate" the quantity of ink in the cartridges and it can report that is empty even if it is not. And there is no way to reset it.

Summary: Item was great condition!
Comment: I really like this printer. It came to me just as the seller described...perfect condition. Works great! Thanks.

Summary: No problem with ink-Scanner locked-no way to fix!
Comment: I have not had any problems with the ink issues. After one month (to late to return to the store) the scanner locked. There is no locking mechanism and when I called Epson, I was told that the error lights on my printer mean that a part is no longer functioning.
They will replace or repair it if I send it in at my own expense, which of course is more than the cost of the printer!
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT-THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!
