Summary: Good Lens for Beginners
Comment: I'm new to the Digital SLR World. Decided to try this for fun and as a new type of stress relief. I've only used point and shoot cameras in the past. Was concerned about the potential for shaky pictures when I was reviewing dSLR cameras and lens; and I was greatly surprised with what I experienced with my first shots. Shots with this lens and my new Nikon D40 came out clean and sharp. Shots were taken without a tripod. I agree with other reviews for you to save your money and get this lens over the VR version. I found this lens easy to use, and if gave great shots for very small subjects (i.e. toy poodles) up to 20 feet away. This lens is a great companion to the 18-55mm lens.

Comment: Fantastic Product - I believe that this lens is perfect whether you are a professional or not. You do not need to spend extra for the vibration control lens - you dont need it - I took pictures from a regular SLR for years with a lens of the same quality - it still works great.
This lens is just as easy to use as the standard lens that comes with the unit.
I recommend this lens as a great buy.
