Summary: Olympus FE-340 8MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom
Comment: This is an excellent compact digital camera. I have not yet explored it's full capabilities, but one feature that is truly significant is 5x optical zoom. The digital zoom is integrated with the optical zoom so that it easy to tell how much of each you are using.
The images in low light conditions are good. It is an 8MP camera, so the images with decent lighting conditions are just sub-professional quality.
Considering all the features that work well on the camera, the price is amazingly reasonable.
I haven't yet explored the video features of the camera.

Summary: Beautiful photos at affordable price!
Comment: I bought one of these a couple of months ago and I must say I'm very pleased. The photos I've taken with it (and I'm not a 'photographer') have come out wonderfully clear, especially outdoors. The optical zoom at 5x is a nice touch, since digital zooms are never as clear, and 5x is pretty much close enough for anything but serious outdoor or wildlife shots. Oh, and the battery life is great... I haven't had to charge it yet!
"Bang for the buck" on this product is VERY good!

Comment: We purchased the camera to take on trips and just have availble. I also have an SLR for other photo's. But this camera has been suprisingly good at taking many different types of pictures with its scene settings and they are easy to use. It is just the right size (not to small or large) and the screen is easy to use. The quality of the photos has been great and they have printed up well.

Comment: Overall I am happy with this camera. Some picture have come out blurry but the colors are good, zoom is amazing, and it's small enough to fit in a coin purse. I would recommend it, Olympus builds a good camera.

Summary: A shade worse than FE-230
Comment: I own an Olympus FE-230 which I recently gave away to my folks for taking pics of my baby niece.
The FE-230 is light, sleek and extremely nice with the picture quality.I got hooked onto Olympus with this camera and decided to try the FE-340 which,as the model number suggests is a more evolved variety--or so I thought!It is far bulkier and heavier which is a HUGE negative for me.Most importantly, in no-flash mode, the camera does not adjust for low light and in fact the pictures come much darker than the actual light of the surroundings!I am not sure if there is sophisticated workaround (which beats the purpose of a point and shoot,of course) to this low light outcome.
I wont say I am thrilled with this heavier and wider cousin of the FE-230.I'll suggest checking other varieties like the Nikon coolpix before deciding on this one.
