Comment: I bought this as an xmas gift for my mom. So didn't need a top of the line digital photo frame, just one that my mom could use and view photos of her family. I thought the pictures looked great and were easy to download on to the frame. Mind you I'm not a professional or quasi-professional photo person, just an average user. But it suited my needs perfectly. Well, I actually ended up giving the frame to my sis-n-law because I thought it might be a bit too involved for my elderly mom who is not technologically savvy at all. I got a different frame for my mom that was simply plug it in, turn it on, and thats it. This frame had a remote and a fair amount of options for the pics. Oh, and my sis-n-law and family loved the frame. Definitely would recommend it.

Summary: digital picture frame blues
Comment: I have about 3500 digital pictures and what I wanted was a digital frame to randomly display them. Ideally the frame would read the pictures wirelessly or even wired from the hard drive (network-attached storage) where I keep them, but after doing some research I gave up on that and decided that I would settle for one that used a memory card. I wanted to put the frame in the living room and have a different picture come up every thirty seconds or so. I thought that would be cool, and it didn't seem like I was asking for too much.

Well, apparently I am. My first purchase was a Philips 6.5-Inch Digital Picture Frame with 4 Interchangeable Frames, which I returned when it locked up after about a week, and showed nothing more than a blank screen. My second purchase was an unidentifable brand that I got at a camera store. I discovered it didn't even have a random mode, would not display pictures stored in subfolders on the memory card, and would display a picture for only a few seconds before showing the next one. It went back too.

So I did some more research, and this DigitalFoci frame looked like a good product. It has a nice wood frame and their Web site was informative. I could even download the manual. I specifically checked whether it could randomly display large numbers of pictures, and according to their Web site it could. I crossed my fingers and purchased the DigitalFoci. Would the third time be the charm?

Nope. After a few hours of use, I realized that I was seeing the same pictures over and over again, and there were a lot of pictures I wasn't seeing. An e-mail exchange with their tech support folks revealed that the information on their Web site was incorrect -- random mode is limited to showing only 512 images.

What I have learned is that this product category is, I'll just say, immature. Maybe someone soon will come out with an iFrame or a gFrame -- a real knockout consumer product. But no one seems to be there yet. In the meantime, rather than return my third frame, what I'm going to do is buy seven memory cards, put 500 images on each one, and swap them out. That just seems ridiculous. Am I the only person out there with more than 512 digital images? I can't believe that I am.

A postscript: As I spend more time with this frame, I'm not happy with the quality of the LCD, either. Bright colors are washed out, making some pictures look overexposed. The Phillips frame (mentioned above) has a much better display.

Summary: Wonderful product, great customer service!
Comment: Everything about this product is wonderful, except...I wish the screen was bigger. I also bought the Philips 8-inch digital frame and it has a bigger projection area. Otherwise the ease of use, the bells and whistles and the remote control make this a winner. Plus I had some problems loading my memory card and these guys were so responsive. That to me, makes this a 5-star product!

Summary: Excellent quality! Very happy with it!
Comment: I just got this frame in time as a Valentine's Day gift for my boyfriend. The screen is extremely clear and bright and operation is very easy. I have received a frame from a different company as a Christmas gift and was quite disappointed... the image was blocky and distorted. I liked the idea though, so I started doing research on the different frames in the market.

The digital frames display your pictures - so the most important thing to look for is the screen quality. The Digital Foci frame is a little more pricey compared to a lot of other frames in the market, but definitely worth the little extra $$$! Very crisp pictures! And it loads the photos a lot faster than the lower-end frame I got as a gift. The packaging and manual look very professional as well. The only other frame that I also considered was the Phillips, but I like the fact that the Digital Foci frame lets you play music along with the photo slideshow and comes with a remote control. Plus I found a different frame that I really liked on their website that I swapped out on my own to make it a little different.

There's no internal memory, but I was able to put a lot of pictures of me and my boyfriend on an extra SD card that I have. I like how I can put the photos into different folders so he can select which one to look at at different times.

All in all, highly recommend this frame!
