Summary: Pretty Handy Little Jobber
Comment: If you need a flexible tripod with the ability to attach to devices without the standard tripod screw connection, this is your tool. I have not experimented with the sticky attachment, but both the standard camera attachment and the suction cup work great. Also, the tripod is amazingly stable, no matter how you position the legs. Highly recommended.

Summary: Cute but not functional
Comment: I'm blown away by how many 5-star reviews the gorillapod got. I have been using it for about a month, and have been extremely disappointed.
First, I should point out that I'm using the SLR model for my Canon A620 point and shoot, simply because it's just a smidgen over the weight limit for the smaller gorillapod. This means that the camera I am using is at the bottom of the weight range for this model, and should have no problems. Unfortunately, that's not the case. This item simply isn't sturdy enough, no matter what configuration it is in. Even the most gentle pressure on the shutter release of wither of my two camera models (I also tried using it with a small digital SLR) moves the tripod and blurs the picture. As a result, any time I use it, I have to take many shots of the same scene and then pick the least blurry one to keep. And for this reason, you can forget using it on anything but the hardest of surfaces... on dirt or grass, its lack of weight works against it, allowing it to move and blur photos.
The one thing for which I WOULD recommend it is for use with the video camera setting on your device. It completely eliminates "hand shake," and because you aren't touching it while it's filming, there's no (or negligible) blur.
But all in all, a disappointment.

Summary: Reliable compact tripod.
Comment: The Gorillapod flexible tripod system exceeded my expectations. Unlike other flexible tripods, this one is made of quality components:
Ball and socket modules won't crack like the cheap single piece plastic pop diaphrams, and the grippy rubber feet minimize slipping.
The screw type mounting point will hold a small camera. You can remove the screw mount and replace it with the included adhesive pad that will hold small items such as mp3 players to the tripod. There is also a compact suction cup wthat allows attaching your mp3 player to a smooth flat surface.
The kit is small enough to carry around, and useful enough to make it worthwhile.

Summary: A good little deal
Comment: This is the ideal gizmo for backpackers, hunters, hikers, etc - who like to take pictures. I found the Gorilla to be very stable and able to do exactly what it advertises. It will grab hold of anything and keep your camera steady for those shots that will never come again and you just have to have the right angle or height. I am so impressed with this tripod that I am telling friends and family about it.
I was honestly prepared to toss it in the trash after taking out in the woods, however, I got a pleasant surprise. It was fun and it worked well.

Summary: One mighty mighty little pod
Comment: Strong things come in small packages. Don't let the small size fool you - this tiny Gorillapod is sturdy and can support a big point-n-shoot camera in strong winds without buckling - but everything has its limits. This small version was not designed to hold a big heavy DSLR - I tried mine and while it didn't collapse like toilet paper, it did fold under pressure.
My less than perfect review is for some misleading packaging and a somewhat convoluted interface for changing from a screw-mount (for cameras) to a suction mount (for mp3 players, for example).
When someone sees a package that says it works with mp3 players - what are they thinking about? iPods, iPods, iPods! iPods make up 70% of the .mp3 marketshare and that stat is growing. I also have an mp3 player by Philips. None of my iPods, nor my Philips mp3 player, nor my iPhone could be held by the tiny suction cup... nor would I recommend anyone trusting that suction cup to any item that is of great value. The pod legs themselves are strong, but suction cups are simply unpredictable and the tiny convex portion of the included suction cup simply does not provide enough suction to be powerful enough for a smooth object to stay affixed for any length of time. Some mp3 players like a PS3 might hold on great - that's what they use in their product packaging artwork, but I don't have one and cannot attest one way or the other.
The product packaging is awkward to open and there were absolutely no instructions in the the package - if you are not mechanically inclined, you might find the use of this item to be very frustrating. I am strongly mechanically inclined and I have owned many tripods over the years with different mounts, but it took me 15 minutes of fiddling around to figure this thing out.
For the size and the price, however, this is an amazing, versatile gadget - especially for when you need something light weight when you're on a trip - and you need the camera to stay still in an awkward place to take a timed photo - it's a great accessory to throw into a travel bag or in your glovebox!
