Summary: Warning: 16-bit adapter cards are OLD TECHNOLOGY! Stick with 32-bit
Comment: I don't know why these types of cards are still on the market--they are old, slow, and obsolete. Instead, search for 32-bit Cardbus adapters such as the ones made by Viking, Delkin, or Lexar, which are many times faster but not much more expensive. And, they fit in the same PC card slot on most laptops made in the last decade. The 32-bit cards I have used are even a bit faster than USB 2.0 and Firewire.
You can spot 32-bit cards by the gold strip at the top of the card. No gold strip? Then prepare to wait an hour or more for your data to transfer, while your laptop is brought to its knees. The old silver cards may be fine for storing and playing mp3s, or may be needed for laptops made more than 10 years ago, but any large amount of data--such as GBs of photos or video-- will take quite a while to copy over. Why would you want a reader that is SLOWER than your flash media?

Summary: PCMCIA Compact Flash adapter
Comment: I bought this adapter to allow a Compact Flash card to interface with the stereo head unit in my car. It works very well. Fits the slot perfectly, no misalignment of pins, A+++

Summary: The Card Adapter Needed for a Honda Civic Si
Comment: If you are lucky enough to have a 2006 Civic Si or beyond that includes the navigation system and the corresponding sound card system, then this is the adapter to get - it works flawlessly.
You may spend a little more, but, in the end you'll spend less. Other adapters are known not to work in the Si for some reason. So, get it and move on with life. The sound from the card is incredible. Now, with that said, why Honda chose a PC card is beyond me when a simple USB dongle in the console or glove box would have been 100 times easier.

Summary: PC Adapter plus 2GB FlashCard
Comment: This specific combo (PC Adapter and 2GB CF Disk) buy will work in the PC card slot within your Honda CR-V.
Make sure you also buy the Sandisk 12 in one read/writer from your local store i.e. Staples etc.

Summary: Only adapter that works in my 2008 Civic Hybrid
Comment: Although the owner's manual for my 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid says that SD cards are okay, I tried the SD card adapter (Sandisk 6-in-1) with both Ultra II and regular SD cards, but I got a "Media Error" every time. I changed the formats from MP3 to WMA and back again, made sure that WMA did not have a variable bit rate, and even made sure that no songs played at more than 192kbs. Nothing worked.
Then I got this adapter and a 1 GB Sandisk CF card (regular type), popped it into the slot, and it started playing. Sounds fantastic. Better than radio or the CD player. Next up, I'll try a 2GB card (I had heard various versions of whether this adapter works with 2GB cards, and whether the Honda reader will accept them--Honda says yes, they've tested up to 2GB, but they also said SD was fine).
Works great, reads fast (I have the Sandisk 12-in-1 USB reader at home, and that's great too), and plays perfectly in my Honda.
